How to Audition for the 2017-2018 School Year
Please note that the information presented on this page includes an overview of the audition process, along with details specific to auditions for the Denver School of the Arts Orchestra department. All applicants must ALSO carefully review all additional information provided on the main DSA auditions page. The main DSA auditions page contains critical information, dates and details required to complete audition process, and can be found here: http://dsa.dpsk12.org/auditions/
Auditioning is a 4-step process:
Step 1 – Submit the online audition application
The online application will open on 10/10/16 before noon and close at NOON on 11/18/16. At any point during this online audition application window, you must apply online. More details about the online application can be found at the main DSA auditions page.
Note: Incoming 7th graders will audition for the waitlist only.
Step 2 – Attend the mandatory pre-audition meeting
A parent or an adult parent designee for the applicant must be in attendance at the pre-audition meeting in order to move ahead in the audition process. We allow another adult to stand in the place of the parent in case of emergencies/vacations/work/etc. But someone must be at this meeting to represent the student and get the audition time at the end of the meeting. All call back details will also be explained at the pre-audition meetings. The student applicant does not HAVE to attend the meeting but is highly encouraged to do so.
The DSA Orchestra pre-audition meeting is November 30th, 2016 at 6pm in the Orchestra room.
Step 3 – Submit the district school of choice form
You must fill out the DPS School of Choice Form. This information and form can be found on the admissions page: http://dsa.dpsk12.org/auditions/
Step 4 – Attend your assigned audition
You will receive your assigned audition date and time at the mandatory pre-audition meeting on November 30th, 2016 at 6pm. You do not pick the audition date or time. It is chosen for you. The vast majority of our applicants will only be assigned one day. You will find out at the mandatory pre-audition meeting which of the following audition dates you will actually need. Your assigned audition date and time is not negotiable. All students interested in auditioning for the Orchestra department must keep all of the following dates/times open on their calendars.
