CU Invitational

Parents of Vanguard Musicians,

Our students have been invited to participate in the Colorado University Invitational Orchestra Festival! However, in order for them to be in Boulder by 8:00 in the morning we need drivers! If you are able to help carpool with 4-5 students and their instruments on Friday, April 6, 2012 please let me know.  We would be leaving from DSA at about 7:00 am and returning to DSA by about 3:00.

ASTA CAP Saturday March 3 – parent volunteers and food donations

Dear DSAO Families,
As you know, this coming Saturday – March 3rd – is the much anticipated American String Teachers Association Certificate Advancement Program (ASTA CAP) – one of the centerpiece projects of the DAS Orchestra’s academic school year. We are hosting the event for participants from around the state of Colorado. We need your help to help make this happen. We need food donations and donations of time. Every person participating with receive a free DSA Orchestra tshirt. DSA students will also receive a “get out of playing quiz free” pass as incentive. Students, bring your ASTA CAP music to your major class this Monday – you will have the period to practice for your upcoming jury.

ASTA CAP Volunteers Needed

Friday, March 2, 2012 2:45pm – 4:00pm
Saturday, March 3, 2012 7:30am-12:00pm and 12:30pm-5:00pm
We are looking for  volunteers to help clean and set-up the adjudication rooms Friday afternoon 3/1 from 2:45 to approximately 4pm.
We are also looking for volunteers to help run the festival on Saturday 3/2 – we need the following people for both shifts (7:30am-12:00pm and 12:30pm-5:00pm):
1 parent to help with registration
1 parent to set-up, monitor, clean-up the hospitality room
1 student runner at the registration table (go to adjudication rooms and collect forms, make copies, etc.)
3 student hosts to greet musicians at the front door, escort them to registration and warm-up
3 student hosts to escort musicians from warm-up to adjudication rooms
6 room monitors (parent or student) to assist adjudicator, announce musicians, collect original parts, monitor door, time keeper
We also need donations of the following food items for the hospitality room (this is for adjudicators, teachers and volunteers only):
Regular and decaf coffee, cream, sugar, tea (caffeinated and herbal), small candies, bagels and schmeer, fruit, small bottled water, danish, cookies

Calling all DSAO seniors! We are starting an alumni section on the orchestra website and we’d like to begin it with you. Please send us a .jpg file of your senior picture and a short statement (2-4 sentences) about your future plans – be sure to include the college/univ/conservatory you’ll be attending, scholarships, future career plans.
