2013 National Solo Competition Repertoire I. JUNIOR DIVISION

Junior division is open to musicians under the age of 19
(born on or after March 20, 1994).

2011-2012 DSA String Quartet members announced

Auditions for the 2011-2012 DSA String Quartet were held Monday, October 17th with Fred Hoeppner adjudicating.
The winners of the audition are:
Sarah Berger, 1st violin
Spencer Mackey, 2nd violin
Ethan Durell, viola
Addy Harris, cello
Congratulations and thank you to everyone who auditioned!
The quartet will be coached by Fred Hoeppner during the 2nd nine week grading period. Eugenia Alikhanova will coach the group during the 3rd nine week grading period and Erik Peterson will coach them for the final grading period of the school year.
The quartet’s first public performance will be at the grand opening of the Clifford Still art museum; a high profile event with prominent members of the community, including politicians and patrons, in attendance. The art opening is scheduled for mid-November.

The first public performance of the quartet is scheduled for mid-November. The quartet will be performing at the opening of the Clifford Still Museum. This is a high profile event for the school and many state and local politicians, patrons and benefactors will be present. Because of the quickly approaching performancedate, the DSA string quartet will meet with Mr. Hoeppner each Wednesday during Symphony through the Clifford Still performance mid November. Additional rehearsal time, without Mr. Hoeppner, will also be necessary. If you need acopy of the Beethoven excerpt, please contact Mr. Goodrich. A new sign-up sheet is posted on the Orchestra room door. Good luck!

 

WSHO Audition Recording Sessions Scheduled

Bring your WSHO registration form and $25 fee (check payable to: DSA Orchestra) to your recording session. Auditions will be recorded on stage in the DSA Concert Hall. The orchestra room will be available as an open practice space. The Jazz Room will be available to you 45 minutes before your recording session, so that you can have quiet, private practice time before you record. You will be asked to play your entire audition before doing retakes. You will be given a 5 minute warning before your time is up, so you know to begin wrapping up recording.Under no circumstances will you be given extra recording time.
