National Solo Competition

The 2013 ASTA National Solo Competition is undergoing some major changes from previous years!

Here are some of the early details:

  • All auditions will be submitted via video upload and all auditions will go directly to the National Preliminaries. There will be no state level auditions as in previous years.
  • Application deadline will be November 2012.
  • Repertoire for the competition is available.
  • Finals will be held in New York City in April of 2013.
  • Grand Prize: $5000
  • Senior Division Instrument Prizes: $1000
  • Junior Division Instrument Prizes: $500

Time:   6:00–9:00 pm, 7:00 pm Student Awards
Cost:   $10 pp suggested DSAO donation
Place:  Big Time Trampoline Fun Center, www.cometobigtime.com
Location: 7330 W. 52nd Ave., Arvada (I-70/Wadsworth, East end of Arvada Marketplace, across from Sam’s Club)

 What:  Food and awards in Big Time’s Epic events room. All ages play on 50ft trampolines, rope swings, giant foam pit, dodgeball court, the “Wrecking Ball” and inflated obstacle course. For the more sedentary – find your way through the maze, play arcade games, shoot baskets, play ping pong…or just hang out and observe.

Requirement: To play on equipment, participants must be listed on a waiver signed by an adult.

The DSA Collaborative School Committee (CSC) has two (2) openings for parent representatives starting in August, 2012: one (1) for a high school parent, and one (1) for a middle school parent.  The CSC brings together administration, faculty, parents, students, and community members to create and implement plans for promoting high achievement within the school.  Being a part of the DSA CSC is a meaningful opportunity to be involved in the school community and to support the education, development and well-being of our students.

If you (or someone you know) is interested in running for one of the DSA parent representative positions, nominations are being accepted NOW through Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at 3:00pm.  More information regarding the election process (including Nomination Forms) can be found either on the DSA CSC web site (http://dsapresents.org/csc) or in DSA’s Main Office.  Voting will take place from Monday, April 30, to Friday, May 4, 2012.
